Autumn 2: Splendid Skies

Autumn Term 2 - Splendid Skies

Imagine floating high above land and sea on a bed of clouds, silently sweeping by on a billowing breeze.

Back down to earth, let's take a walk outdoors. But what should we wear? Wellington boots? A sun hat? Maybe a warm coat? How do we know what the weather will be like today?

What weather do you prefer? Sunshine, snow, storms or showers? Get your wellies on - let's go!

What will we be learning about?

We will be kicking off our topic with an autumnal walk around the school grounds. What does autumn look like? Can we feel it? We will be searching the school grounds for seasonal treasures such as conkers, pine cones and crunchy leaves.

In English this term we will be learning about recounts, poetry, narrative, postcards and non-chronological reports.

In Maths we will be learning about place value and addition and subtraction.

We will be learning about seasonal changes, clouds and shadows.

We will be listening to music that represents weather and making our own weather music using a variety of instruments.

We will be learning about the four seasons and different weather patterns. We will also be comparing the weather of the UK to that of a country abroad.

We will be practising our word processing skills including typing, symbols and save, editing, undo and redo, select and format and formatting text.

We will be looking at autumnal arts and crafts, weather paintings and making our own clouds.

We will be learning about Christianity and the importance of Christmas.

We will be practising how agile we are!
