Welcome to Oak Class
We would like to say a big 'hello' and welcome to the Academy of Cuxton Schools. We are Mrs Searle (who is on maternity leave at the moment) and Mrs Emslie - the teachers in Oak class. We are supported daily by our wonderful teaching assistant Mrs Mussellwhite. We also work very closely with the adults in our other foundation stage class, Ash, whom we share an outside area with and whose classroom we free flow between! If you wish to ask us anything or pass on any information at all, please feel free to approach any member of the FS Team
During this first term we are getting to know each other and showing everybody just how super we are. We have so many amazing children in Oak Class, this has been a great way for us to get to know each other. Throughout the term we will be reading a number of 'super' books, as well as learning about the superheros among us that we see everyday.
Where in the World?
During this term we have spent lots of time looking at different countries, with the help of Where's Wally!
We have explored Australia, China, India, America, Africa and Italy. We looked at different landmarks, food and animals from those countries. We then spent the last week of term thinking about Christmas and even opened our own Christmas post office! We performed our Nativity play with Ash, Pine and Elm class called 'Hey Ewe' which was lots of fun!
We leant so much about traditional stories. We read lots of different stories! When we read 'The Elves and the Shoemaker' we had some cheeky elves called Efie and Eddie that we had to help and we even built a shoe shop in our classroom. We also read Goldilocks and the 3 bears and lots of us tried some porridge, just like Goldilocks! Ours was 'just right' though! We heard the story of the Gingerbread Man, Little Red Riding Hood, The 3 billy Goats Gruff and the 3 Little Pigs.
In the Garden.
We've Got Talent!
PE in Oak Class
Oak class will be having their planned PE sessions on a Tuesday and Wednesday, Tuesday being our Yoga time. HOWEVER, there may be times that we do PE on a different day. If this is the case we will try our best to write this on the white board outside the EYFS area. Could we please ask parents and carers to ensure that children have had any earrings removed for PE. It may also be useful if your child is wearing a polo shirt rather than button down shirt for ease when dressing and undressing.
