Fruit and Milk
Children receive fruit each morning which is provided by the school. Of course, your child can bring in their own fresh fruit or vegetables should they prefer. If you would like your child to receive milk, please contact Mrs Hayward or Mrs Stock in the school office. Please send your child to school each morning with a full water bottle containing water only. There is no drinking water in the classroom!
Book Bags and Reading Books
Book bags must come into school everyday including the reading record book and reading books provided. We change your child's reading books on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday and only check the book bags/reading records on these days. Therefore, any important messages should be written on a separate piece of paper and be handed directly to a member of staff in the morning - otherwise it could be missed!
Please read with your child every night and encourage them to use phonics when they are struggling to read. We teach the children to segment and blend so if this could be supported at home that would be great! Please remember Buster's Book Club - a county wide scheme to get our children reading! In Year 1, reading minutes should be recorded on a Tuesday evening (so they can be checked on the Wednesday morning). Don't forget the target time for reading in Year 1 is 10 minutes
Labelling Clothes and Belongings
Please, please, please label ALL of your child's clothes. If a jumper is lost and is not named, we cannot possibly find it and school cannot be held responsible for its loss. There is no central lost property in school anymore and any 'lost' clothing e.g. coats, cardigans and jumpers found on the playground are taken round classes and claimed by children. Remember to relabel your children's clothes regularly if using a pen because it washes off very quickly in the washing machine!
