Friday

English

This week we would like you to keep a daily diary of what you are up to during our school closure (you may decide to keep this going throughout your time away once you get started!) Not only is this a great opportunity to show off your writing skills, but it will be really interesting to look back on in the future. You can either send this through to us complete on Friday or daily as it builds. The choice is yours.

You should aim to spend at least 30 minutes a day planning/writing/editing your entries.

If you get time, research other diaries that have been written at unique important moments throughout history or during adventures/expeditions. Which moments did you find the most exciting to read?

Topic 30th March – 3rd April

Over the course of the week find out as much information as you can about the Arctic and Antarctic. This could include inhabitants, weather patterns, climate etc.

You could use these websites to help you:

https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/?s=arctic&post_type=

Once you have completed your research have a go at some of the following activities over the rest of the week:

  • Create a map of each polar region including as much information as possible.

  • Create a fact file, non-chronological reports or PowerPoint presenting your research.

  • A piece of art work featuring the Northern Lights using the media of your choice.

  • Write a comparison of the two, including similarities and differences.

  • Write a setting description for a story based in either region.
