Term 3

Well, what can I say! This is one of my most favourite terms. Absolutely jam-packed with History. Looking at significant people in year 1 and 2, to Darwin’s extraordinary life and scientific discoveries in Year 6. Year 3 take a good look at Roman life and particularly the eruption of Pompeii in 79AD, while year 4 go back in time to 1066 and the Battle of Hastings - they even complete their own re-enactment of this historical battle. Year 5 take a trip to the land of the Pharaoh with their look at Ancient Egypt.

The children complete a variety of different work involving history often overlapping other parts of the curriculum, particularly that of English. Please see below for some of this amazing work, including chapter stories about what life would have been like on HMS Beagle, the ship that took Darwin on his expedition. And news reports from Ancient Egypt (Year 5), and Pompeii in 79AD (Year 3). There were letters home from the Battle of Hastings and Timelines of significant people in History from year 1.
