Welcome back Birch Class! I hope you had a lovely half term. This week we dressed up as rock stars to launch TT Rock Stars Day. We visited the computing suite and played against each other in the arena. We loved seeing who could get the most points.
We have been learning about Remembrance in readiness for Armistice Day. We learnt about the importance of the poppy and made our own pieces of remembrance art using black and white photographs of World War One and bright red poppies.
On Wednesday we looked at the importance of ensuring we always use kind words and the impact that unkind words could have on a person's feelings. We used an apple to show how our feelings can be hurt and bruised on the inside, even if we look 'OK' on the outside.
On Thursday we started to explore algorithms in computing. We learnt to find bugs and how to debug an algorithm. We had to do this to help the jam sandwich robot make a jam sandwich as without us, it wouldn't have got very far!
On Friday we used a conscience corridor to explore what Rose (The Tunnel) should do when faced with a dilemma. We enjoyed role-playing and offering Rose our advice. We then wrote about what we do if we were Rose and why.
On Monday we went on our school trip to Fort Amherst. We had a brilliant time learning about how the tunnels were used in WW2 and exploring the grounds. Back in class we have started to write a setting description of the castle.
This week we have also started to build our junk model castles. They look brilliant so far!
