Please download the below number bonds sheets and practise with your child at home. All children start on the number bonds to 5 sheet each year regardless of where they finished the previous year. This is to ensure children continue to use their number bonds facts. 

 

How do they work?

In each box is a small number in the left corner (e.g. 1). Children have to add onto this number to reach the specific bond. So for example, if your child was working on the number bonds to 5 sheet and there was a little 1 in the left corner of a box, they would then write 4 in that box because 1 + 4 = 5.

 

The times-tables sheets work in a similar way but this time the children multiply the little number in the box by the times-table they are working on. For example, if your child was working on the x2 sheet and there was a little 3 in the box, they would write 6 in that box because 2 x 3 = 6.

 

The division sheets again work in a similar way but this time the children divide the number in the box by the divisor they are working on. For example, if your child was working on the dividing by 5 sheet and there was a little 15 in the box, they would write a 3 in that box because 15 divided by 5 = 3.

 

Children enjoy working on their number bonds and are very competitive to complete the sheet and progress to the next number bond challenge. Children complete number bonds to earn certificates which are celebrated in our celebration assembly on Fridays in front of the whole school. 

 

Children will progress to the next sheet when they are able to answer all of the questions correctly in a 5 minute time limit independently.
