Term 1

Oak Class will have PE on Friday. Ash Class will have PE on Tuesday. Please can we ask that your child’s earrings are removed or covered before coming into school. PE kits will stay in school for the entire term and will be sent home at each half term.

We do not have forest school this term. However, please ensure your child has a pair of wellies and a puddle suit that can stay at school for outside, messy play.

Phonics

Children will start learning phonics in week 3 (wb 15th September). We follow the Little Wandle programme. Children will bring home phonics homework each Friday. Please support them in rehearsing the sounds taught that week.

Home Reading

In week 5 (wb 29th September), children will begin reading practice. Your child will bring their Little Wandle phonic book home after we have completed the 3 focussed reads in the classroom where you are invited to keep the book at home until the following Wednesday. Please ensure these books are returned on time as they will be needed for another group. If books are not returned on time, a ‘wanted’ slip will make its way home! If books continually do not get returned to school, children will be set ebooks instead.

An additional, shared book will come home on Friday which is for children to enjoy and share with their family. Please return this book on Friday.

Please log all home reads (phonics books, shared books and additional books from home) onto Boom Read. Children are expected to read at least 3 times a week. The more reads your child completes, the more rewards in school they will earn such as certificates, book marks and adding a leaf to the reading tree!

Things to bring to school every day

A bookbag

A water bottle

A healthy snack

A cardigan/jumper

A coat

Please ensure all of your child’s belongings are named!
