Today I would like you to play ‘I Spy’ I have given you a worksheet which has lots of hidden CVCC and CCVC words. Can you circle all the ones you find? If you don’t have access to a printer, please write them on a piece of paper.

Today we are going to play ‘quick write’ to help re-cap our sounds.  Ask an adult to call out the phase 5 sounds we have learnt (ay, ou, ie, ea, oy, ir and ue) and some of the phase 3 sounds we know. See how quickly you can write them down – use a sound mat if you are finding it tricky.

We are going to be learning the tricky and high frequency words - people, looked, some and come.  They are called tricky words because we can’t sound them out.

Start by writing them out on some paper.  Now place them around the room.  Ask an adult to call them out and jump on the word that is called out.

Can you write them out 3 times each?

Re-cap your phase 4 tricky words by playing this game:

Adults – if you can continue to practise these words until your child can read them and spell them confidently that would be great.
