The children will start by learning a famous traditional tale. We will learn the Three Little Pigs this year! We use talk4writing by Pie Corbett to teach the story to the children so they can act it out and re-tell it. It is a fantastic engaging way for children to really understand a text and provides a platform for children to really love stories and become story writers! Alongside this, we will provide engaging enhancements and other traditional story props for them to let their imagination fly! You will get an opportunity to watch the children perform the Three Little Pigs story and they could even tuck you up in bed and retell you the story of the Three Little Pigs. 

 

                                          

 

In maths, we are learning numbers up to 10, being able to count objects beyond 10, finding 1 more and 1 less and beginning to add and subtract within 10. Children will be able to talk about length, weight and capacity by using vocabulary such as longer, tallest, shortest, heaviest, larger and smaller and begin to order objects from smallest to largest. We will learn the 2D shape names and begin to describe their properties by making the Three Little Pigs houses out of shapes. 

 

We will also be learning about Autumn, Bonfire night, Haloween and Diwali this term before starting our Christmas topics and nativity practise!
