“Foundations for Life”

Year 2

We are Year 2!

We are made up of Beech and Birch Classes - two fantastic classes of hard-working, kind and enthusiastic children.

On our year group page you will find lots of information about our current topic and about what we have learnt about in other terms.

Our brilliant team in Year 2 is made up of:

Beech Class: Miss Taylor, Mrs Parsons and Mrs Chapman

Birch Class:  Mr O'Mallan and Mrs Marrs

Term 6

This term we will be exploring life at the seaside! Through our key text 'Traction Man and the Beach Odyssey', we will be finding out about rockpools, writing a diary entry and planning our own beach adventure!

In geography we will be looking at the features of a seaside town and why they are so popular amongst tourists today and in days gone by.

Our PE day this term is Tuesday afternoon. Children should come to school dressed in their school uniform and bring their PE kit into school with them to change into!

Hi, Year 2! We hope you all had a great break and managed to get some rest and have some fun. We can't believe we're in Term 4 already!

We hope you're all ready for the new term and are ready to do some great learning as you always do!

As always, we know that working at home is not like being at school and it can feel really tricky to get your home learning completed. You might get a funny feeling in your tummy when this happens or you might feel a bit cross or you might feel something different. However you are feeling is an ok feeling and we can fix it. Talk to Mummy, Daddy, Nanny or Grandad and let them know that’s how you feel. They will be able to help you! ❤️

When you feel like this, please take a break - a little break, a medium sized break or a big break! Think about what we’d do in the classroom for our breaks -  we have lots of little wiggle breaks don’t we and we have all of our friends and teachers to talk to. We have a medium sized break time and we play outside - have you been outside today? And we have a bigger lunch time break! You might want to make your lunchtime longer and have an even bigger break from your learning - that is absolutely fine! Maybe you could go on a nice, long walk around your local area? Please check out the new Mindfulness page linked below. It will be soon be added to with lots more ideas for how to can practise mindfulness at home.

We want you to keep smiling and be happy because we really do care about each and every one of you!

This week we have our class Zoom calls! Your invitation has been emailed to your parents/carers so ask them to take a look in their inbox. You don’t have to come along if you don’t want to but it will be a chance for you to see everybody in your class and say hello!

Love The Year 2 Team x
