Geography
'Foundations for...Geographers'
At the Academy of Cuxton Schools, we believe that Geography helps to provoke children’s curiosity of the world and its people, whilst preparing them for a global society. Children are encouraged to develop a greater understanding and knowledge of the world and its interconnectedness. Our curriculum ensures that children will be equipped with knowledge about diverse places, both locally and globally, as well as developing a sense of place. In addition, pupils will gain a deeper insight into the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
As part of our Geography Curriculum, we encourage children to ask questions that leads to their skills to collect, analyse and present data, gathered from fieldwork, diagrams, globes and Geographical Information Systems. Experiential learning is a key part of promoting and understanding how the world around us is changing and reasons for this. We aim to inspire a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people, which will remain with them for the rest of their lives, equipping them well for their further education and beyond.
