Spelling Rule!

Generally, you need the hyphen only if the two words are functioning together as an adjective before the noun they're describing. If the noun comes first, leave the hyphen out.

Day 4 - Thursday - Spelling activity

Can you use each of your spelling words in a sentence?

I bet you can't use more than one in the same sentence ensuring that the sentence still makes sense!!

Day 3 - Wednesday Spelling Activity

Use a dictionary - this could be online if you don't have one at home - find and define your spelling words.

Consider how you will find the words quickly in the dictionary. What do you need to know in order to find the correct page?

Day 2 Spelling activity

Split each of your spelling words into vowels and consonants. You might choose to write the vowels in one colour and the consonants in another.

Monday Spelling Activity -

Think about what the words all have in common.

What does the hyphen do?

How does it change the meaning of the root word?

Write each word out, split them into syllables.

Look at the link below if you are unsure what I mean by syllables smiley
