Childhood is a uniquely special time, and a once in a life time opportunity. That is why, at The Academy of Cuxton Schools, we are incredibly excited to share the news that we have opened our own nursery provision on site. Set in the heart of the community, our nursery provides a newly refurbished, engaging environment with fantastic facilities for children aged 2 and 3-4. In our calm, caring and nurturing setting, we work with you to provide an excellent starting point for your child. Whether it is snuggling down into a comfy chair to share a story, or getting messy in the mud kitchen, your child will feel safe and happy in our nursery.

We understand that young children learn best through exploration and hands-on experiences. Therefore, we build on your child’s natural curiosity with a range of enrichment activities, all planned for within our CARE package (Cuxton’s Agreed Real-life Enrichment Package). These opportunities suit the age and needs of the children and give them the opportunity to explore and interact with a range of different experiences, all with the aim of promoting language, discovery and enjoyment in learning for your child.

Throughout the day, your child will learn through child-initiated play, as well as through adult-directed tasks. We provide the foundations for life-long learning by having daily phonics, topic and maths sessions, in addition to your child engaging in ‘free play’, where they will pursue their own ideas and interests, developing their own sense of purpose and character.

Your child will spend time learning and having fun in our well-resourced Forest School area, giving children the opportunity to interact with and enjoy the wonders of nature. Visiting the Forest School will also maximise your child’s ability to invent and imagine, as well as fostering in them a sense of independence, adventure and resilience. Ultimately, learning outdoors will have a positive impact on their intellectual, cognitive, physical and emotional development.
