In Phonics, today, we are going to be recapping the ‘z’ phoneme. Can you add to your ‘z’ list from yesterday? Watch Mr Thorne and practise reading the ‘z’ words! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9dOmDQsXiw

When ‘zz’ is at the end of a word, it still makes the ‘z’ sound. One z is usually at the start of a word and two ‘zz’ is usually at the end of a word. Look at the pictures and identify the ‘zz’ words. Be careful! Not all pictures have the ‘zz’ digraph.

This week we are learning about 2 syllable words. I’ve given you a worksheet today that is going to challenge you. The words have been split into syllables and you need to match them together correctly! You can do this. 😊

Mrs Emslie and Mrs Houghton’s group:

Before we start, let’s practise all of our sounds - https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/2/flashcards-speed-trials  (Phase 3) and you also need to re-cap the phase 5 sounds we learnt last week – ay, ou, ie, ea oy, ir, ue, aw, ph, wh and ew.  Write down the score you get and see if you can beat it tomorrow! If you cannot access phonicsplay, test yourself on your sound mat!

Today we are going to learn the alternative grapheme ‘oe’ (wiggle your toes).  We already know ‘oa’ (goat in a boat).
