Uniform

In our schools, we:

  • have considered the cost, the available supply sources and year-round availability of the uniform to make sure it's providing best value for money for parents. We have avoided a single uniform provider and are happy for parents to buy items from supermarkets or Uniform Base, who sell branded items.
  • have ensured that the PE uniform is practical, comfortable and appropriate to the activity involved
  • carefully consider reasonable requests to vary the policy, in particular to accommodate a pupil's religion or belief, ethnicity, disability or other special considerations
  • understand that the school uniform policy mustn't directly or indirectly discriminate and should be flexible for exceptions.
  • are committed to the Halo Code - Our schools champion the right of staff and students to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black staff and students’ racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance.
  • are happy for children to wear the old Cuxton logo (new logo introduced in 2025) until they have grown out of the uniform. There is no need to change to the new logo unnecessarily.
  • have organised for two occasions, across an academic year, where pre-loved uniform will be available for parents to browse and take home if they wish. The 'uniform table' will be displayed in the KS1 hall playground after school. The dates of the uniform table for this academic year are 2nd/3rd February and the 6th/7th July. We also have a supply of uniform that can be accessed all year round by parents. They need to speak to Mrs Aldham-Breary (Headteacher), who organises the uniform table and also can support parents who need access to uniform all year round.
  • ensure that no child is excluded from a non-uniform day as a result of a lack of financial contribution.
  • ensure that no child is excluded from extra-curricular activities due to lack of uniform/items e.g. wellies for OPAL play/forest school. The school will provide spare items for those children who need them.
  • provide Pupil Premium pupils a £50 spend, which can be spent on extra-curricular activities, as well as the purchasing of uniform.
